I’m Marissa Tasker, and I’m running to represent Berwick on the MSAD 60 School Board. This isn’t just a campaign—it’s a commitment to our kids, our schools, and our shared future. After decades of being deeply involved in this community, I’m stepping up to help ensure our schools remain strong, thoughtful stewards of both our children's education and our community’s resources.
I’m not running for this position to push an agenda. I’m running because I care—about our kids, our community, and the long-term success of both. I want to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and be a voice for families who, like mine, are doing their best to make it all work.
It would be a privilege to serve. I hope to earn your support.
For the past 27 years, I’ve been an active member of the Berwick community. Whether volunteering for local sports teams like football, baseball, cheerleading, and soccer, or lending a hand with the Recreation Department, town clean-up days, the Berwick Library, or school PTOs—I’ve always believed in showing up, staying involved, and working together.
I’ve also had the privilege of working within the school system as a substitute teacher, giving me a firsthand look at what our educators do every day. I’ve seen the strengths of our schools—and at times, the gaps and frustrations due to limited resources. In fact, I homeschooled my own children for several years because I wanted to make sure they had what they needed to thrive.
I believe our district has the potential to be a safe space for our children, a secure investment for current and future citizens, and a place where we can be proud to call our home. I will do everything within my power (and more!) to keep Berwick a town of pride for all of us.
With over 10 years of experience in local banking, I bring a solid understanding of budgets and planning. I’ve helped individuals and small businesses stay on track financially, and I believe that perspective will serve our school district well. Schools are not just institutions—they’re investments in our future. And that future matters deeply to me.
As a longtime homeowner in Berwick—over 30 years—I understand the challenges many residents are facing. My recent property assessment nearly doubled, and like many of you, I’ve been asking myself: can I continue to afford to live in the town I love so deeply?
Born in Michigan and raised in Alabama, I knew I wanted to raise my family in Berwick as soon as I laid eyes on this beautiful town. It is here that I have raised my 4 wonderful children and really got to see everything we have to offer.
My oldest as an academic, pushing our schools to the extreme seizing all it has to offer. My second explored our theatre community, spending many days at Hackmatack Playhouse. My third spent every summer at the rec field, participating in every sport he could until he graduated in 2022. Now, with my youngest child entering their senior year at the high school, I know it's time for me to give back to the district for all it has given me and my family.
Too often in the news do we hear of tragic accidents all around the country, who's fear is even hitting our classrooms. I believe that school should be a safe place for everyone to be who they want to be. Free from bullying, gun violence, and discrimination - children should feel safe and feel at home.
In our district we provide extra support to our top performing students, as well as our student that need a little extra support. I want to advocate for our middle 98% of students and give them extra opportunities as well, providing opportunities for all students to excel.
Like many of you, I was shocked when my property assessment nearly doubled. I love this town—it’s where I’ve built my life—and I don’t want to be priced out of the place I call home. While I won’t make empty promises about lowering taxes, I will commit to being a careful steward of our resources. I believe every dollar we spend should reflect our values and priorities.
When it comes to advocating for our town, every vote matters. I hope you decide to back my cause and trust I will be the best fit for our town, but no matter who you decide to back - your vote is important.
Voting day is June 10th - I hope to see you at the polls!
